What’s the difference b/w UFC, MMA, and boxing?

Now…
is UFC and boxing the same thing?
Or is UFC just the name of the organization or boxing championship?
I know it stands for Ultimate Fighting Championship…but is it an actual sport?

UFC isn’t a sport itself right?
Its just a boxing championship sort of thing…?

But
How come in UFC
They don’t wear gloves
but in regular boxing, they do use gloves?

& how come in UFC they use boxing AND martial arts
but in regular boxing they don’t used martial arts, they just box…?

That’s why i’m kind of wondering EXACTLY what the difference b/w these sports are.

Is it the rules that seperates them as well?

Can somebody explain the rules for UFC/boxing and MMA?

The UFC is a brand of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) which involves all types of fighting styles, so it does incorporate boxing techniques but it has many more forms of fighting.

The UFC is an actual sport, their are rules, judges and points. The bouts are controlled by a referee who follows a strict set of rules and all fights are licenced by fighting commissions in countries where MMA is accepted.

The UFC fighters and MMA fighters in general still do wear gloves and the only difference is the gloves leave the fingers exposed so that the fighters can grab hold of their opponents.

The difference between MMA (UFC) and boxing is exactly as you said, in boxing they just throw punches and in MMA they can use what ever style they wish as long as it is within the rules of that given organization.

Boxing rules are pretty simple, no punching to the groin, the back of the head or the back in general plus they can only use their hands as weapons, any other for of attack is illegal (eg. no kicking , biting, headbutting etc)

Fights finish by knock out, Technical Knockout (Eg. Bad cuts which wont stop bleeding), the trainers throw in the towl (indicating the fighter has had enough) or by points decision which are given by 3 ring side judges.

MMA rules are similar in some aspects,
* No strikes to the back of the head
* no biting
* No fish hooking
* no strikes to the groin in any form
* no kicking a downed opponent
* no grabbing the cage

Fights finish by knockout, Technical Knockout (Eg. Bad cuts which wont stop bleeding), tap out (fighter taps the opponent or the mat to indicate he gives up, taps come as the result of multiple strikes, chokes, broken bones, dislocated joints, or a combination of these things. ) or by points decision which are given by 3 ring side judges.
